Nicholas Steinberg is an award winning and published photographer residing in the San Francisco Bay area focusing on dramatic landscapes and everything else that strikes his eye. Nicholas’s interest in photography began on a journey to Mexico around the Yucatan peninsula in 2008 where he went for a short vacation. It was there that he saw so many photographic opportunities with the amazing light and textures around the Mayan ruins and pyramids, but he had no camera to capture those moments. From that time on he swore he wouldn’t ever be without a great camera. Shortly after getting back to the states, he embarked on a journey to find a great camera and settled on a Nikon D80 and a standard zoom lens and off he went. With being a new resident to the SF Bay Area of California, or, as Nicholas describes, “A photographers paradise” he was literally surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes the country had to offer. From majestic Redwood forests, to cool breezy oceans, to iconic City skylines and bridges, to dry but stunning desserts and magical Sierra mountain ranges, his love for photography began to blossom as he practiced relentlessly.
The dedication and passion Nicholas brings to photography sets him apart from the rest. He goes above and beyond to be unique and get, “the shot” despite being in an area flooded with very talented photographers who shoot in similar iconic territories. That attitude and drive to be unique earned Nicholas the Grand Prize for the, “National Geographic Travel” photo contest for his California Street sunrise shot.
His work has been published and featured in National Geographic Travel, The U.S Department of the Interior, Yosemite Conservancy, Berkeley Times, Digital Photo magazine, Practical Photograhy magazine, Digital Camera magazine, ABC7 News, Kron 4 News, and many others.
You can find Nicholas in the wee hours of the morning to late hours at night chasing the light and creating memorable imagery. Whether it be the sun, the moon, the rain, the fog, the thunder or lightning, he is there. He is particularly fond of shooting seascapes and using specific shutter speeds to create specific effects with water and obsessed with fog.
If you are interested in licensing or using any of Nicholas’s work, please feel to contact him through email where he can discuss licensing options for your specific needs.
